Ronald Habing

The firm’s founding member, Ron has engaged in the general practice of law continuously since his call to the bar in 1975. Currently, Ron concentrates his time on residential and commercial real estate transactions, mortgages, corporations, wills, estates and powers of attorney.

Ron brings a business-like, efficient attitude to every file, which, coupled with his experience and approachability makes dealing with him a satisfying and valuable experience for his many clients.


Sid Laviolette

Sid Laviolette practices general law with emphasis on family law. He is ready to assist our clients with separation, spousal support, child support, custody, access, common-law relationships, divorce, grandparents’ rights, property division and variation of existing court orders. This includes the negotiation of Separation and Pre-Nuptial Agreements as well as representation in court when a family matter requires litigation.

When not practicing Family, Sid can be found in the civil arena representing clients in civil litigation matters. Sid represents clients in Manitoba, in particular West Winnipeg, St. James, Charleswood and Assiniboia.


Gord Howorth

Gord (web page at www.howorthlaw.com) practices in association with the firm, concentrating on commercial real estate, business law, corporate law, commercial law, commercial leases, finance law, residential real estate, wills, estates, trusts and trademarks.

Since his original call to the bar in 1980, Gord has practiced law or provided legal consulting services in Edmonton, Toronto and Winnipeg in Canada and internationally in Santiago, Chile, London, England, and Grand Cayman, British West Indies. He is one of Winnipeg’s few trademark agents. In addition, Gord speaks Spanish – se habla español.


Paul W. Nicholson

After being called to the bar in 2021, Paul joins Habing Laviolette with a focus on Wills, Estates, Real Estate, Civil Litigation, Corporate Law and Employment Law.

Prior to his his Juris Doctor, Paul obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Winnipeg in Rhetoric and Communications in 2017. During his time at Robson Hall, Paul was the Treasurer of the Sports and Entertainment Law Group and President of the Robson Hall Jets hockey team.

Outside of the office, you can find Paul playing golf or hockey. Paul is a member at St. Boniface Golf Club and plays beer league hockey for a few different teams. He is also the Vice-President of the Manitoba Lacrosse Association, a role which requires drafting policy and decision-making.

Paul grew up playing sports in St. James and is happy to return to serve the community as an associate lawyer at Habing Laviolette.
